The group, led by retired army Maj. Antauro Humala, has demanded the resignation of President Alejandro Toledo.
Humala said in a radio interview Toledo was selling out to foreign investors and he called for an end to inflows of capital from neighboring Chile.
He also said his brother, Ollanta Humala, who led a military revolt against former President Alberto Fujimori in 2000, was to join the uprising.
